Capitola 1-8-11

Kate and I went to Capitola today. We parked up on the hill and walked down to fish off the pier for awhile. We didn't catch any fish but it was a nice day! We ended up getting crowded by a group of 6 people who decided to fish right on top of us, it was annoying so we left.

Sharks game tonight! 3rd row! Look for us!

48 foot fishing pole? Anyone?

I've NEVER seen anything like this. The video says its a European fishing pole LOL. Perhaps some of you have seen these and I'm the last one to know about it, but I figured it would be my video for today! I can't imagine hanging a pole above the water with a 48 ft fishing pole! That's incredible.

Also, my intention when I made this blog was to share MY fun experiences with the outdoors in the form of videos, or literature. I put videos up frequently because these are the things that interest me. I will write more personal experiences as they happen, I.E around evening time come Sunday... During the week I'll likely stick to posting interesting videos :) Stay tuned because I plan on adding individual pages for each different hobby that I have (Fishing, Mining, Piano, Car stuff)

Record Blue Fin Tuna Caught off Coast of Japan!

This is a video of a fish that was caught last Wednesday off the coast of Hokkaido, a Japanese Island. It was a RECORD Bluefin Tuna weighing in at 754 pounds! What's amazing to me is that the Previous record was a 445 pound Bluefin! Amazing! BTW it sold for roughly $396,000 US dollars, 32.49 million yen!

What a lucky prospector obtained over his lifetime

This guy says this is what he found over his lifetime. This guy must have been pretty dedicated, he has gold from all over the world! Inspiring isn't it? We DO live in GOLD country you know, it's there somewhere, why aren't more people trying to go out and find it? I welcome any comments, positive or negative. :)

Digger Bob!

Check out "Digger" Bob's video I found. He was on a special entitled "Treasure Hunting America". It's about 6 minutes long, but that nugget he finds in the end of the segment is inspiring! This guy really turned me on to buying a metal detector. I'm going to have to do some research on what's the best bang for my buck. Metal detectors can range from $100-$1000, and there's even nicer ones out there that are water proof and can filter certain things that go for like 3-4K$!

Video of the day! 1-1-10!

I subscribe to this guys Youtube channel. Check out this awesome find of a 4.5 oz gold nugget with a sweet metal detector. This is not me (obviously) in case anyone was wondering...

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! 2011 will be another year of new discoveries, fun and adventure! This weekend I'll be spending time with my family and my girlfriends family. I almost went fishing today but the weather was awful, and I need to redeem my voucher for my fishing license.  Some weekends are meant to be spent at home I suppose!

12-26-10 Gold Prospecting

Today the girlfriend and I took a ride up to the cabin. I just got some gold pans for Christmas so we were going to go see if we could sift through the gravels of a nearby creek and find some gold pieces. The price is at $1,400 an ounce as of this writing,  so finding a nugget or two would be awesome! It was our first time panning for gold with little or no instruction at all.  We found what we for sure agreed was a flake but nothing more than that. We spent minimal time at the cabin while we were up there. We agreed we came unprepared and decided that maybe we should invest in waders and proper water proof boots.  It was just a day trip so we panned for only 4 hours at max... which sorta sucked, but it takes 3 hours to get to this creek so next time we will have to leave earlier and maybe we will get lucky :) If anything else it was a nice day at the creek! Check out the shots above.
